Being an honors student is, well, an honor. With that distinction comes responsibilities and a commitment to meeting the requirements of Nova Southeastern University's Honors College. How much time you commit to being an honors student is ultimately up to you since the program is flexible.
Each semester, we'll review your performance and discuss new opportunities based on your status and goals. If you don't meet the criteria below, you may petition to retain your honors status or apply to join the Honors College again the following year.

Honors Citations
Honors citations are different paths you can take in the Honors College. You may pursue one or both of the citations below. If you complete the requirements for a citation, you'll receive a notation of this achievement on your NSU transcripts and a medallion at graduation.
General Citation in Honors
To complete the General Citation in Honors, you must:

Complete 15 credits of honors coursework (honors seminars and/or honors-level courses)

Achieve a cumulative NSU GPA of 3.5 or higher at the time of degree conferral
Research Citation in Honors
To complete the Research Citation in Honors, you must:

Complete nine credits of honors coursework, which must include at least three credits of HONR 4990 Independent Study

Complete and successfully defend an approved honors thesis

Achieve a cumulative NSU GPA of 3.5 or higher at the time of degree conferral
