Ismael Muvingi is a Professor of Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University, Florida. He is originally from Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia, and during Zimbabwe's war for liberation from British colonization, Dr. Muvingi worked for the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Rhodesia. His work involved going into war zones, listening to and recording the stories and experiences of unarmed civilians caught in the middle of the fighting. After Zimbabwe's independence, Dr. Muvingi practiced law in Zimbabwe for 18 years. In North America, Dr. Muvingi worked for the relief and humanitarian aid NGO, Catholic Relief Services, spearheading a legislative advocacy campaign focused on the US congress, the administration and the US electorate. Thereafter, he taught conflict resolution at Menno Simons College, in Winnipeg, Canada before joining Nova Southeastern University in 2011.
