Megan Fitzgerald teaches a variety of communication and journalism courses, including introduction to print journalism, media law and regulation, and research methods. In addition, she is the faculty adviser for NSU’s student-run newspaper, The Current, the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) student chapter, and the communication honor society, Lambda Pi Eta. She is actively involved in the Journalism Education Association (JEA) and serves as a mentor in the JEA mentor program, which pairs experienced media advisers and educators with new high school journalism teachers. She earned her JEA Certified Journalism Educator designation in 2016. She also serves on the board of directors for the Florida Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Fitzgerald co-hosts a yearly multimedia conference at NSU’s campus that brings together media professionals and high school, community college, and college students. She has presented at conferences hosted by the National Communication Association, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and the Associated Collegiate Press.
