With a doctoral degree in mathematics education, Trotman previously worked in the Caribbean as a mathematics educator and assistant high school principal. During that time, she worked with a regional learning group to harmonize the mathematics curriculum for the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, resulting in the co-authoring of text books and teacher guides for the Caribbean Primary Mathematics series. Trotman joined NSU in 2002. She works with students at the undergraduate to doctoral levels, serving as field and internship supervisor, counselor to the Kappa Delta Pi chapter, dissertation chair, and Honors student advisor and mentor. Trotman is a lead program reviewer for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics/Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
